About the project

ViaKonnect wanted trips to feel planned by a friend who lives there. Travelers tell it what they like, get matched with local creators and their guides, and book the whole trip in one place.

ViaKonnect is a travel startup based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. We designed the product end to end: the iOS app, the web app and the landing pages for travelers and partners. The platform didn’t launch publicly, but the work covers every flow from the first sign-up to the memories after a trip, so we’re showing it here.

The challenge

Flights, stays, transport, activities and local tips usually live in five different apps. ViaKonnect had to hold all of them without feeling like a booking engine.

One place, not five
Search, booking, tickets and the plan for each day had to sit in one product.
Local, not generic
Every trip leads with the creator who made it, so travelers know whose advice they are following.
Before, during and after
The product had to stay useful on the road and after the trip, not only while people plan.

Getting to know you

Sign-up asks a few quick questions: the kind of travel you like and the places that catch your eye. By the time onboarding ends, the home screen is already personal.

Every step can be skipped, and the photo picks work like a quick swipe, so it feels closer to browsing than filling in a form.

Onboarding question: What type of travel resonates with you most, with Exploring the unknown selected
Onboarding photo picks: a mountain landscape liked with hearts, step 2 of 10

Explore

The home screen starts with one question, where to, and five tabs: for you, fly, stay, move and experiences.

Below the search sit matched trip ideas, guides made by local creators and destination pages. A reels feed lets people browse trips as short videos and follow the creators behind them.

Book and go

Packages bundle a guide, a stay and activities. Travelers pick dates and guests, pay in the app and get a ticket with a code to show their guide.

Once the trip starts, the guide turns into a plan for each day, with numbered stops on a map and the hours each day takes.

Tripfolio

Tripfolio keeps every trip in one place: a map of where you’ve been and what’s planned, a passport that collects a stamp for each city, and a page of memories for every trip.

It gives people a reason to open the app after they get home, and a record they can share.

Trip page for New York with attractions visited, distance walked, visited places and photo memories

The web app

The web app carries the same journeys to a bigger screen, with a side menu for Explore, Reels, Tripfolio and Profile.

Guides, packages, itineraries and Tripfolio each got their own desktop layouts rather than stretched phone screens: more than 450 screens in all.

Landing pages

The landing page sells the trip, not the platform: a search bar up top, popular experiences under it, then the three things that make ViaKonnect different.

Personal picks, Tripfolio and guides made by creators each get a section of their own. We designed versions for travelers and for partners.

Landing page section Popular experiences: creator trips in Al Masgi, Jeddah, Cairo and Beirut with prices
Landing page section Personalized just for you, with a grid of liked destination photos
Landing page section Your Tripfolio, your way, with a world map card and a traveler passport card
Landing page section What you get: SmartMatch input, guides that adapt to you, and trips made by creators

Every flow, every state

We mapped each flow screen by screen, empty states, errors and edge cases included: 556 mobile screens, 453 web app screens and two landing pages, from log-in and payments to reviews, coupons and deleting an account.

That came to 12 mobile flows and more than 1,000 screens across mobile and web, ready for a team to build from.
