Wix to Webflow migration

Wix to Webflow, without starting from zero

Wix doesn’t let you take your site with you. We rebuild it properly in Webflow, move what Wix allows out, recover the rest, and keep every URL.

In short

Checked against Wix and Webflow docs

Wix sites can’t be exported or hosted elsewhere, so a Wix to Webflow migration is a full rebuild. CMS collections export to CSV and Wix Stores products export to CSV, but blog posts can’t be exported and media has no bulk download, so those are recovered from the live site. We rebuild the design in Webflow, import the content into collections and add a 301 for every Wix URL pattern before the domain moves.

Why teams move

Why teams move from Wix to Webflow

  1. The company outgrew the template

A site that started as a quick launch now has to carry a brand, a product story and a sales process.

  2. Content needs structure

Case studies, integrations and resources need real collections and references, not app pages.

  3. Control over SEO and URLs

Teams that invest in search want their own URL structure, schema and fine-grained metadata.

What moves, what doesn’t

What comes across from Wix

Wix keeps more locked in than most platforms. We plan for that instead of discovering it.

  • Content

Partly: CMS collections export to CSV. Blog posts can’t be exported from Wix, so we scrape them from the live site or rebuild them, then import into a Webflow collection.

  • CMS

Partly: Wix collections are recreated as Webflow collections with matching fields and imported from CSV (files up to 4MB each).

  • SEO

Rebuilt: Titles and descriptions collected page by page from the live site and set in Webflow. Every Wix URL pattern gets a 301 in Webflow.

  • Forms

Rebuilt: Wix Forms are rebuilt in Webflow and connected to your CRM or inbox.

  • Integrations

Replaced: Wix apps (bookings, members, chat) are replaced with Webflow features or third-party tools, decided at the audit.

  • Animations

    Rebuilt: Rebuilt with Webflow interactions.

  • Media

Rebuilt: Wix has no bulk download of the whole media library, so images are collected from the site and uploaded again, with alt text.

Some of it imports, the rest is redone

Content model

How Wix content maps to Webflow

  1. Wix Blog posts

Posts written in the Wix Blog app, with their cover images, categories and SEO settings per post.

    On Wix:

    Blog posts collection

A Webflow collection with fields for the body, cover image, author, date and SEO title of each post.

    On Webflow:

What you get CMS › Blog Posts

Recovered from the live site, since Wix can’t export them.

  2. CMS collections

Content kept in Wix CMS collections, exported to CSV from the dashboard one collection at a time.

    On Wix:

    Webflow collections

Matching Webflow collections with the same fields, filled through the CSV import and checked.

    On Webflow:

What you get CMS › Import CSV

  3. Wix Stores products

Products sold through Wix Stores, with prices, images and descriptions, exported as a product CSV.

    On Wix:

    Ecommerce or a collection

Webflow Ecommerce products, or a plain collection for a showcase, both filled from the product CSV.

    On Webflow:

What you get Ecommerce › Products

  4. Pages

Pages built in the Wix Editor or Wix Studio, with their SEO settings stored page by page.

    On Wix:

    Webflow pages

Pages rebuilt in the Webflow Designer from shared components, classes and variables.

    On Webflow:

What you get Pages › About

Process and timeline

How we move a Wix site to Webflow

  1. Inventory and redirect map

    Before design

Crawl every URL, note Wix’s app paths (blog, store, members) and map each one to its Webflow URL.

  2. Get the content out

    Before design

Export CMS collections and products to CSV; collect blog posts, images and page SEO from the live site.

  3. Design system and rebuild

    Build

Variables and components in Webflow, then pages and collection templates.

  4. Import and check

    Build

Import collections, check every post and image, re-add alt text.

  5. SEO parity and redirects

    Before launch

Titles, descriptions and schema set; 301s imported as CSV; forms tested.

  6. Switch and watch

    Launch and after

Move the domain early in the week, submit the sitemap and watch 404s and indexing daily.

SEO safety

The pre-launch checklist for Wix to Webflow

Rankings are lost in three ways: broken URLs, missing on-page signals and crawl problems. 4 stages, from the first crawl to the weeks after launch, close all three. Tick the checks as you go; your progress stays in this browser.

Stage 1 of 4

Before the build

Know every URL and where it goes before anything is designed.

Stage 1: Before the build

Stage 2 of 4

During the build

Carry every on-page signal across, page by page.

Stage 2: During the build

Stage 3 of 4

Before launch

Real redirects and a clean path for crawlers, ready for the switch.

Stage 3: Before launch

Stage 4 of 4

After launch

Watch what Google sees in the first weeks and fix it fast.

Stage 4: After launch

What people worry about

What Wix teams worry about

  1. Wix says blog posts can’t be exported. Do we lose them?

No. We recover them from the live site with their dates, images and metadata, then import them into Webflow and check each one.

  2. Will we lose our rankings?

Wix URLs always change in this move, so the redirect map is the most important document in the project. Every URL gets one 301 to its new page.

  3. What about our Wix apps?

We list every app at the audit and pick a replacement for each before the build starts.

When not to migrate

When to stay on Wix

  • The site is small, works, and nobody needs more control. The move costs more than it gives back.

  • Your business runs on Wix Bookings or other Wix apps that would each need a new tool.

  • You don’t have time to review a rebuilt site and its content before launch.

Not sure which side you’re on?

If one of these is you, staying on Wix is probably the better call. We’ll say so on the first call.

FAQ

Wix to Webflow questions

Adrian

Moving from Wix to Webflow?

Every URL mapped, the CMS rebuilt, SEO kept. We scope it on a 30-minute call.

Can I export my Wix site?

No. Wix says sites must run on Wix’s servers and can’t be exported or hosted elsewhere. CMS collections and store products can be exported to CSV; the design is rebuilt.

Can Wix blog posts be exported?

Not with Wix’s tools: its help center says exporting blog posts to other platforms isn’t possible. We recover them from the live site instead.

How do redirects work for a Wix site?

Once the domain points at Webflow, the redirects live in Webflow’s 301 settings. We map every Wix URL, including blog and store paths, and import the map as CSV.

Does Webflow have a Wix importer?

No. Webflow’s own guide says there’s no automated way to move a Wix site and that it’s a rebuild, not a transfer.
