In short

Checked against Webflow and Framer docs

A Webflow to Framer migration moves the CMS through CSV and rebuilds the design. Webflow exports each collection to CSV; Framer’s built-in importer brings it in once matching fields exist, with referenced collections imported first. Webflow’s code export doesn’t include CMS content and Framer doesn’t import code, so pages are rebuilt on the Framer canvas and every redirect is recreated in Framer’s site settings.

Why teams move

Why teams move from Webflow to Framer

  1. Design changes take too long

Class systems and layout rules make sense for big sites, but slow down a small team that redesigns sections every few weeks.

  2. Motion is part of the brand

Framer’s effects and interactions are quick to build and adjust, so the site can look as considered as the product.

  3. Designers want to publish

From Figma to a live page is a shorter path in Framer, without a separate build step.

What moves, what doesn’t

What comes across from Webflow

  • Content

Partly: Collections export to CSV (current locale only, rich text as HTML). Static page copy is rebuilt with the pages.

  • CMS

Moves over: Framer matches CSV columns to fields by name and needs a unique slug per item, so fields are created first and referenced collections imported before the ones that use them.

  • SEO

Rebuilt: Titles, descriptions and OG images set per page and per CMS template; redirects exported from Webflow as CSV and recreated in Framer.

  • Forms

Rebuilt: Rebuilt as Framer forms or a form tool, reconnected to your CRM.

  • Integrations

Replaced: Custom code embeds move into Framer’s custom code or code components; apps are swapped for Framer plugins or embeds.

  • Animations

Rebuilt: Webflow interactions are rebuilt with Framer effects, usually with less effort.

  • Media

Partly: Exported image URLs point at Webflow’s hosting and stop working if that site is deleted, so images are pulled into Framer before Webflow is switched off.

Moves over
Exported, imported, then checked by hand
Partly
Some of it imports, the rest is redone
Rebuilt
Nothing to import, we rebuild it

Process and timeline

How we move a Webflow site to Framer

  1. Inventory and plan limits

    Before design

List every URL and collection, count items and check them against the Framer plan. Export Webflow’s redirects.

  2. Export the CMS

    Before design

Export every collection to CSV while the Webflow site is live, and download the assets.

  3. Rebuild in Framer

    Build

Styles and components first, then pages and CMS templates.

  4. Import and check

    Build

Import collections in dependency order, then check rich text, references, images and alt text item by item.

  5. SEO parity and redirects

    Before launch

Per-page SEO carried over, redirects recreated with wildcards where patterns repeat, forms and links tested.

  6. Switch and watch

    Launch and after

Move the domain early in the week, submit the sitemap and watch 404s and indexing daily.

SEO safety

The pre-launch checklist for Webflow to Framer

Rankings are lost in three ways: broken URLs, missing on-page signals and crawl problems. 4 stages, from the first crawl to the weeks after launch, close all three. Tick the checks as you go; your progress stays in this browser.

Stage 1 of 4

Before the build

Know every URL and where it goes before anything is designed.

Stage 1: Before the build

Stage 2 of 4

During the build

Carry every on-page signal across, page by page.

Stage 2: During the build

Stage 3 of 4

Before launch

Real redirects and a clean path for crawlers, ready for the switch.

Stage 3: Before launch

Stage 4 of 4

After launch

Watch what Google sees in the first weeks and fix it fast.

Stage 4: After launch

What people worry about

What Webflow teams worry about

  1. Will the CMS fit in Framer?

We count items and collections at the audit. If the library is large and growing fast, we’ll tell you to stay on Webflow.

  2. Will images break after we cancel Webflow?

Exported image URLs point at Webflow, so every image is moved into Framer and checked before the old site is switched off.

  3. Will our URLs change?

Mostly not. Framer lets us keep page paths, and CMS paths are matched or redirected with wildcards.

When not to migrate

When to stay on Webflow

  • You run a large CMS with many collections, references and filters, or more items than Framer’s plans hold comfortably.

  • A content team edits daily and relies on Webflow’s Editor and roles.

  • You use Webflow Ecommerce, memberships or localization heavily.

Not sure which side you’re on?

If one of these is you, staying on Webflow is probably the better call. We’ll say so on the first call.

FAQ

Webflow to Framer questions

Adrian

Moving from Webflow to Framer?

Every URL mapped, the CMS rebuilt, SEO kept. We scope it on a 30-minute call.

Can Framer import a Webflow site?

Not the design. Framer’s Webflow guide moves content through CSV, one collection at a time, with referenced collections first. Pages are rebuilt on the canvas.

Can we export Webflow code and use it?

Webflow’s code export (on paid Workspace plans) gives HTML, CSS and JavaScript, but CMS collection lists come out empty and forms need a new endpoint. It doesn’t help a move to Framer, which builds visually.

How many CMS items does Framer allow?

Framer’s pricing page lists 2,500 items and 10 collections on Pro, with add-ons above that. We check your numbers at the audit.

How do redirects carry over?

Webflow exports its 301s as CSV. We clean them and recreate them in Framer’s site settings, using wildcards where patterns repeat.

Platform facts checked on . Platforms change their exports and limits; we recheck at the start of every project.
