comparison at a glance

So, which one should you choose?

The final choice usually comes down to how far the site needs to grow, and how much control your team needs after launch.

  • Webflow is usually better if:

Your website is a growth channel: a SaaS or B2B marketing site with a blog, case studies, landing pages, and a team that keeps adding content.

  • Squarespace is usually better if:

You need a simple, good-looking site live quickly, with built-in booking, email, or a small store, and no one on the team to run a more technical tool.

  • Custom code (Astro or Next.js) is usually better if:

You want full design control, top performance, and a site your developers or AI agents can edit directly in code, with every change reviewed before it goes live.

Year-one cost

What the first year costs on each, side by side

One typical setup, priced the same way for both platforms. Pick a new build or a straight migration, then add maintenance if you want it.

We quote migrations after a URL inventory, so “Custom” is left out of the totals.

Which one works better with AI agents?

More teams want Claude or other AI agents to update pages, styles, and content. Here is how each option handles that today.

  • The code-based option

An Astro site in git lets agents edit real components, with nothing locked in an editor.

  • Open or closed

Webflow lets outside agents edit pages and CMS. Squarespace keeps AI in its own editor.

  • Review before it’s live

Webflow logs every agent change. Squarespace has no outside agent edits to review.

Questions for Webflow vs Squarespace

Need help choosing the right stack?

Send us your current site, goals, and what your team needs to manage after launch. We’ll help you choose the right setup for your business.

Is Webflow better than Squarespace?

For a SaaS or B2B tech company, usually yes. Webflow gives you more design control, a real CMS, and room to grow into hundreds of pages.

Squarespace is still a good choice for small, simple sites where speed and low effort matter more than flexibility.

Is Webflow or Squarespace better for SEO?

Both cover the basics: titles, descriptions, clean URLs, and sitemaps. Webflow gives you more control over structure, schema, redirects, and CMS pages, which matters once you publish a lot of content.

Squarespace is fine for a small site, and its AI SEO scanner helps fill in missing details.

Which one costs less?

Squarespace is usually cheaper month to month and needs less help to run. Webflow plans and builds cost more, but you are less likely to need a full rebuild when the company grows.

Compare the cost over two or three years, not just the first month.

Can I sell products with either one?

Yes. Squarespace has built-in commerce, member areas, and digital products, with no transaction fee on the Core plan and up. Webflow has its own Ecommerce plans for smaller catalogs.

If ecommerce is the core of the business, Shopify is usually the stronger base for either.

Which one is easier for a marketing team?

Squarespace is easier on day one. Webflow takes longer to learn, but gives marketing teams more structure for blogs, case studies, and landing pages, with an editor mode for content updates.

Can you migrate from Squarespace to Webflow?

Yes. Squarespace only exports part of a site (pages, one blog, and some blocks as a WordPress file), so most migrations are a rebuild rather than a copy.

We use the move to fix structure, redirects, and SEO so you don’t lose traffic.

Can DesignMe build in both?

We build in Webflow, Framer, and custom code (Astro and Next.js). If Squarespace is the right fit for where you are, we’ll tell you.

If it is starting to hold you back, we can plan and build the move to Webflow or another stack.
